The winEU.rur project is an initiative led by the Municipality of Vedra, co-funded by the EU’s CERV-Networks of Towns programme, whose objective is to create a network of small rural communities for the protection, promotion and valorisation of European rural landscapes that boosts new experiences of sustainable tourism and digital and ecological transition actions, but also defines strategies of participatory governance based on the social, cultural and historical values offered by traditional agricultural landscapes, as assets for a greener, more digital and more resilient European rural areas. The winEU.rur project brings together several small rural municipalities from 6 different countries (Spain, Italy, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia and Portugal), belonging to the four areas of Europe (East, West, North and South). During a period of 2 years, a wide range of activities of citizen participation will be carried out by the transnational thematic working groups in the framework of the European small rural communities’ network set by winEU.rur project. Through those actions, a European Observatory for the ethnographic traditions, social values and cultural experiences in territories of traditional agricultural landscape will be created, identifying best practices and continental trends of innovation in culture and winemaking. In addition, a common strategy for the protection, promotion and valorisation of vine traditional agricultural landscaped will be developed in a participatory manner, encompassing innovative technologies for managing cultural tourism in scattered sites, examples of sustainable cultural wine tourism management and a roadmap for guidance on participatory governance on these topics. Finally, in order to ensure the continuity of the network beyond the project lifetime, winEU.rur will establish guidelines for sustainable tourism experiences in rural Europe based on the cultural and historical values of traditional agricultural landscapes, through the participative governance common strategy. This common strategy will support the exchange of best practices, experiences, trends and knowledge, whilst creating joint synergies leading to a smart, sustainable and inclusive growth of traditional agricultural landscapes, as drivers of new tourism experiences. The project will be implemented during 24 months, from 1st December of 2022 to 31st December 2024. |
